Balloon America has been in the balloon tour business on a full time basis since 1982. Our competitors are all part time amateur balloonists, having just recently gotten into the business of flying paying passengers to make a few extra bucks on the weekend. They ALL have other full time occupations and will frequently cancel your confirmed flight just because they don't feel like flying that day. All of our pilots are FULL TIME, FAA CERTIFIED COMMERCIAL PILOTS. Balloon tours are our ONLY business, so we devote 100% of our time and energy toward our job as a professional tour operation. Our wide body baskets are designed specifically to carry passengers, not converted sport balloons with no personal space on board. You wouldn't stand up and fly in a jet or any other aircraft - yet that is exactly what our competitors FORCE you to do! On our First Class flights you can either sit or stand. 4. The Best Pilots in the World.
Our pilots have been carefully selected from among the best in the world. Our Chief Pilot has over 6,200 hours of experience flying balloons and additional experience in blimps. He holds a Commercial Pilot's license issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration along with one issued by the much more demanding British Civil Aviation Authority.
5. Convenient Location.
We're the only company conveniently located just 10 to 15 minutes drive from most major resorts and hotels. All of the rest fly from remote unauthorized locations, often requiring an hour's drive in heavy rush hour traffic just to reach your takeoff point.

7. Scenery.
In Tucson we fly just a mile away from Tucson's Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountain Ranges - majestic peaks that soar to almost 10,000 feet above sea level. Our competitors fly along the Interstate 10 freeway corridor, over vast subdivisions of tract housing, trailer parks and even a sewage treatment plant!
In Colorado, we fly over the Arrowhead at Vail golf course, the Singletree Golf Course and the Village of Edwards, a 10 minute drive from Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts. Our competitors fly 40 miles down valley and 1,000 feet lower in the industrial alpine desert of Gypsum.
8. Altitude.
We fly at altitudes from 1,000 to 2,000 feet above the ground, for views of all of Southeastern Arizona or Central Colorado. Our competitors hug the ground and rarely fly above 500 feet above the earth.
9. Attitude.
Our pilots show up for your flight clean shaven in khaki pants and white pilot shirts with epaulets. Never jeans and t-shirts like our competition. Our 15 passenger luxury window van is reserved for passengers only. We don't carry crew our equipment in this van. Your Mimosa toast is served in chilled crystal champagne flutes instead of styrofoam cups.
